To sum up our feelings about the JSCC is really quite simple; "What a great start to circuit racing for a junior competitor. This series is an ideal step from karting into car racing for anyone aged 14-17".
When Harvey was introduced to circuit racing, my first thoughts were naturally his safety. Thinking about how he would be racing at such high speeds compared to karting. However upon seeing the car built, my mind was put at ease. The level of safety equipment used is exceptional, and having seen some incidents in our time, it is always impressive how well the little Saxo's hold up!
I was so excited for the change, moving up from karting, and watching my 14 year old race on a circuit track was a little surreal. The whole process from Harvey taking his ARDS test, to competing in his first round at Mallory Park came round very quickly but the JSCC team have been incredibly supportive from the start. Even the paddock we found to be very friendly and on hand to help when needed.
People often ask us why we chose JSCC? Well: the biggest junior grid in the UK and some of the very best junior racers in the UK made it quite simple. What a series to start circuit racing!
Furthermore, when looking at our options for circuit racing we found the Junior Saloon Car Championship the most competitive option all round. With a main factor in that being the relatively affordable season costs.
Harvey has taken the switch from karting to car racing very easily. He had a bumpy start but that is racing. If anything, it has made him stronger more resilient and now we can see his confidence growing every race weekend and he has started to see results to reflect this.
The benefits of racing for us as a family are that it promotes self reliance, an opportunity to overcome fears, teaches the importance of following directions, instills a lifelong respect for driving and cars, teaches our children how to be gracious in wins and losses and most importantly of all brings it our whole family unit – our team – closer. If you want a junior series which is affordable, highly competitive and well run JSCC is the one for you.
